Shower tile collects the same mineral haze as the glass door. It just doesn’t get as much attention.
- Tile collects the same haze as shower glass.
- Spotless X2 works on tile and porcelain.
- Test grout first; avoid natural stone.
- Squeegee the walls too.
Why tile gets cloudy
Tile walls get splashed every shower and dry slowly in a humid bathroom. Minerals and soap residue build up into a dull film, especially at hand height and around the fixtures where water hits most.

Clean the tile
Spotless X2 is made for hard surfaces including tile and porcelain.
Spotless X2 is a strong acid cleaner: its Safety Data Sheet lists it as causing severe skin burns and eye damage. Wear gloves and eye protection, keep it off your skin, and read the label before you start. Every sheet is on our SDS page.

About grout and natural stone
- Grout is porous and can be sensitive to strong acids. Test a small, hidden spot first, and keep product off grout lines where you can.
- Natural stone like marble, travertine and limestone can be damaged by acids. Don’t use acid cleaners on natural stone; follow the stone installer’s advice.
Squeegee tile walls along with the glass after each shower. Less water drying means less buildup.
Sealing grout
Grout is porous, so it soaks up water and minerals. Many installers recommend sealing grout periodically to help it resist stains. Ask your installer or follow the sealer maker’s directions.
Common mistakes to avoid
Using acid cleaners on marble or travertine. They can etch natural stone.
Soaking grout. Test first and keep product off grout lines.
Hard scrubbing brushes on glossy tile. They can dull it.
Poor ventilation. Run the fan.
